When talking about the Consejería de Educación del Gobierno de Canarias, many people think of just another bureaucratic building; however, nothing is further from the truth. From my perspective as someone who has dealt and worked closely with this body for years, I can say that this system is the backbone of education in the Canary Islands.
The Ministry of Education, Universities, Culture and Sports of the Canary Islands Government is the body in charge of supervising, planning and executing all educational policies in the islands. It is not a mere administrative entity, it is the one that defines the course of education throughout the Canary Islands! It is in charge of education from basic levels to university, vocational training and even physical activity and sports, always seeking to integrate students into an inclusive and quality education system.
One thing that really stands out about the Consejeria de Educación is its impressive range of educational resources. From guides for teachers, support programs for students with specific educational needs to high quality digital resources, this Consejería has become a reference. For families who need specific educational resources and guidance, the Department has a whole section focused on providing materials and guides for student learning and development.
In addition, they have implemented programs oriented to topics such as environmental education, school health and gender equality. It's not just theory! This Council works to make learning integral and adapted to reality. Here the motto seems to be "learning for life", and I can only applaud this vision.
Now, one of the topics that often raises questions is that of Vocational Training (FP). The Regional Ministry is betting heavily on this modality, adapting it to the demands of the current labor market. The Canary Islands have specific needs and the FP seeks not only to prepare young people, but also adults seeking to specialize. With degrees adjusted to the labor reality and supporting continuing education, the Ministry has launched Dual FP initiatives, integrating students in companies from the very first moment.
What has surprised me over the years is how the Council of Education of the Canary Islands Government has been at the forefront in educational technology issues. From online platforms to the use of digital tools in the classroom, this agency has driven a remarkable change in how education is delivered. In the 21st century, its initiative to implement technology in the classroom demonstrates vision and adaptability, something that many educational institutions have not yet managed to integrate effectively.
In short, the Department of Education of the Canary Islands Government is much more than just an administrative body. Its role is crucial, and thanks to its effort and dedication, many students in the Canary Islands are gaining access to an education that prepares them for the future.
The faculties embrace diverse academic disciplines and fields of study, opening doors to new perspectives and exploring different spheres of wisdom in a constantly evolving world.
