Educa UNIVERSITY|EDUCATION
Today I am going to tell you everything you need to know about GVA education from my personal experience. I have gone through several stages of the education system in the Valencian Community, and here I explain how it has evolved and how it can be key in the future.
The GVA Education refers to the entire education system managed by the Generalitat Valenciana. This includes from early childhood education to university education, including vocational training, Compulsory Secondary Education, baccalaureate and adult education. The Valencian government is in charge of regulating and managing this system, offering resources, scholarships and support programs for students and teachers.
What stands out most about GVA education is that it is constantly adapting to the current needs of society. In recent years, they have implemented a series of curricular reforms, integrating new technologies, such as the use of the Mestre a Casa platform, and training programs adapted to the demands of the labor market.
My first steps in the Valencian education system were in a small neighborhood school, where I began my journey in early childhood education. One of the aspects I am most grateful for is the commitment to educational innovation from the early years. When I was advancing in elementary school, the Generalitat was already beginning to introduce tablets and electronic whiteboards in the classrooms, a revolution at the time!
Secondary and high school, on the other hand, allowed me to see firsthand how GVA education is not only academic training, but also seeks to form citizens with values. With programs that promote equality, inclusion and coexistence, the Generalitat has developed an equality unit within the system. And it is here that Vocational Training (FP) is also promoted as a highly prestigious educational option.
If there is something worth highlighting in GVA education, it is Vocational Training (FP). The Generalitat Valenciana offers a wide range of training cycles grouped into different professional families, with the aim of adapting education to the needs of the current labor market. Here, VET is more than an option: it is the key for many young people seeking employment in specific sectors
There are three levels of VET:
One of the strengths of the FP is Dual Training, which allows students to combine studies with work placements in companies. This not only improves their employment opportunities, but also prepares them for the real world.
Not everything is perfect in GVA education. While there has been progress, the reality is that the system still faces challenges. One of them is the disparity of resources between educational centers in different areas. While in big cities, such as Valencia, there is access to state-of-the-art technology, in some rural areas the lack of modern infrastructure is still an obstacle.
In addition, the lack of teaching staff is a recurring problem in some centers, which generates work overload for teachers and affects the quality of teaching. In my experience, this is something that has affected not only educational quality, but also the school climate.
Another sensitive issue is the implementation of inclusive education. Although much progress has been made in terms of inclusion of students with special needs, there is still a long way to go to ensure that all students receive the personalized attention they need.
What excites me most about the future of GVA education is its commitment to digital technologies. With projects such as LliureX, the digital educational platform, the Generalitat is working to integrate technological resources into the classroom, making learning more interactive and accessible to all. There is also the Next Generation EU project, which is funding many of these improvements in educational infrastructure and resources.
The plan is that these initiatives will help digitalize the classroom, allowing students to access educational content from any device at any time, a true revolution that will benefit both students and teachers.
In addition, the scholarships and grants offered by the Generalitat, such as the Vocational Training Scholarships and the extraordinary awards, are an incentive for students to put more effort into their studies. In fact, GVA education offers specific scholarships for economically disadvantaged students, ensuring that no one is left behind.
From my experience, I can say that GVA education has been a fundamental pillar in my personal and professional development. Like any system, it has its pros and cons, but what stands out is its ability to adapt to the needs of modern society. The reforms underway and the new policies focused on innovation and the use of digital technologies are proof that education in the Valencian Community is moving in the right direction.
My advice to any student or parent reading this is to make the most of the opportunities offered by the education system of the Generalitat Valenciana. From childhood education to university and Vocational Training, there are many ways to grow and develop within this system.
The faculties embrace diverse academic disciplines and fields of study, opening doors to new perspectives and exploring different spheres of wisdom in a constantly evolving world.
