Movistar's deployment of 5G

Movistar has been one of the pioneers in the deployment of 5G in Spain. According to recent data, the company has achieved coverage that exceeds 90% of the Spanish population, offering service in more than 5,100 municipalities. This includes 1,500 municipalities in the 3.5 GHz band, which provides high speeds and low latency, and 3,585 municipalities in the 700 MHz band, ideal for rural areas due to its greater reach.

My experience with Movistar's 5G coverage

I live in Granada, a city that has benefited from the deployment of 5G since its inception. I remember the first time my mobile showed the 5G icon; curiosity led me to test the download speed, and what a surprise! I was able to download an HD movie in a matter of seconds. The reduced latency also improved my video calls, making them smoother and uninterrupted.

Challenges and areas for improvement

Despite the advantages, there are challenges to be faced:

Coverage in rural areas: Although progress has been made, there are still areas where coverage is poor or non-existent.

With plans to achieve even greater coverage and the implementation of complementary technologies, such as Network Slicing, which allows for the creation of virtual networks tailored to users' specific needs, the future looks promising.
