Aena Employment: What nobody tells you (until today)

Aena Employment: What nobody tells you (until today)

Hello, I'm Rubén Águila, and today I'm going to tell you about my experience with Aena Empleo. I'm telling you right now: if you are looking for stability, a good salary and to work in one of the most vibrant environments in existence, Aena is a solid option. I've been through several calls and I'm going to tell you everything I've learned. Ready for takeoff?

What is Aena Empleo?

Before I tell you about my experience, I will briefly explain what Aena Empleo is. Aena (Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea) is the company that manages airports in Spain and also some internationally. When we talk about Aena Empleo, we are referring to the job offers that this company launches throughout the year. And beware, we are not talking about temporary job offers, but about permanent and well-paid positions.

You may ask: And what kind of jobs do they offer? Well, just about everything: from maintenance technicians to air traffic controllers, firefighters, administrative staff, and customer services. Whatever you can imagine at an airport, there's sure to be a position for it at Aena!

The Calls: Opportunities at Aena Empleo

Aena Empleo has a system of public calls where they offer available positions at different airports in Spain and, sometimes, internationally. For example, there are calls for technical analysts, operations personnel or central services at airports such as Madrid-Barajas.

Each year, the calls are usually opened several times. You must be attentive and visit their official employment website or subscribe to receive notices. You don't want to miss out on the opportunity to get listed and have the chance to be called.

And the requirements? They depend on the position, but in general they ask to be of legal age, to have Spanish or European Union nationality, and to be in possession of the appropriate training. In some more specialized positions, such as air traffic controllers, it is also required to pass English tests.

My Story with Aena: From Candidate to Worker

A few years ago, I first saw a convocatoria from Aena and I said to myself: "this is mine!". I didn't know much about it, but I did my research and applied for a customer service operator position. I had my nerves on edge.

What surprised me most was that the selection process was quite clear, but rigorous. The phases I had to go through were five, and I'm not going to lie to you, they gave me a lot of headaches:

  1. Aptitude Test: Here they measure your logic, mental quickness, and, although you think it's a simple test, it's not as simple as it seems.
  2. Behavioral Competencies Test: This is where they analyze how you behave in real situations. Very important to know how to stay calm in times of pressure.
  3. English: If you don't know English, get your act together now! It's essential for most positions at Aena, given the international nature of the job(.
  4. Curricular Assessment: Here they review your experience. Luckily, I had some customer service background.
  5. Interview: This is not just any interview; they evaluate both your character and your technical competence. The key here is preparation and knowing how to defend your resume(((.

I can tell you it was worth the effort. The salary is competitive, the environment is dynamic and, although sometimes stressful, I assure you that every day is a new adventure.

Practical Tips for Getting a Job at Aena

If you are thinking of taking the plunge, here are some practical tips based on my experience:

Visit the Aena employment website often. The calls do not last forever and you don't want to be left out.

Prepare a specific resume. It's not enough to send just anything, you have to tailor it to the position you're applying for. Highlight the most relevant skills such as languages or customer service experience.

Languages. I emphasize this because it is fundamental. In my case, English was key to move forward in the process. If you master more than one language, your chances of success skyrocket.

Further training. If you have time, take advantage of specific courses, such as airport security or customer service at airports. Aena highly values your continued training.

What if You Have No Experience?

Here's some good news: Aena also offers internal training. If you pass the selection process, the company trains you so that you can perform your duties correctly. So don't worry if you don't have direct experience in the airport sector.

It is true that there is a lot of competition, but if you follow my advice, I am sure that you will have more options of making it.

Final Reflection: Is it worth working at Aena?

My answer is a deep yes. Aena offers you the opportunity to grow professionally, enjoy a good working environment, and have a stable and well-paid job. Of course, it is not an easy road. They will demand a lot from you, but if you are willing to give your all, the effort will be rewarded.

I, Rubén Águila, tell you: if you are looking for stability and a career with real possibilities for growth, Aena is the place for you! So. what are you waiting for?
