Throughout my career, public employment in the Junta de Castilla y León (JCYL) has been a constant in my professional life. From my first steps as an applicant, to having seen firsthand how the competitive examination system works, I can assure you one thing: preparing for a position is a long journey, but with the right information, it can be much easier than it seems.
For those who are not yet familiar, public employment in the Junta de Castilla y León refers to the job vacancies that are offered through competitive examinations to fill different positions in the Administration. Each year, the Junta publishes its Oferta de Empleo Público (OPE) with the number of positions available in various sectors: education, health, administration and many more.
This 2023, the OPE of the JCYL has offered almost 3,000 positions (exactly 2,970!). Of these, more than 2,600 are destined for new entry and free shift, which means that there is an increase of more than 9% compared to previous years.
There are two main ways to get a place in the JCYL:
In addition, 10% of the places are reserved for people with disabilities, ensuring equal opportunities for this group.
Since I was young, I have always seen public employment as a secure and stable option. I started my journey in this world as a competitive examiner and I have faced the most complicated tests. The key? It is not enough to study; you need strategy and perseverance. There are days that seem endless, but in the end, getting a position compensates the effort.
In the field of the Council of Education, I have seen how many colleagues fought for their position. The public employment positions of the JCYL cover a wide variety of areas, from teaching to administrative. The same happens in other departments, such as health or general administration, where the competitive examinations are just as demanding.
Why do so many people choose to sit for competitive examinations in the JCYL? Simple. Because it guarantees a stability that few jobs offer today:
Now, more than ever, oppositions are in high demand. More and more people see public employment as the solution to job instability. So if you are thinking of taking competitive examinations, here are some key tips:
Among the most outstanding oppositions of this year, there are the places for:
As someone who has been in your shoes, I say yes. But it's not an easy road. You need a lot of determination, good organization and, above all, patience. The JCYL public employment offers a unique opportunity for those seeking job stability and the satisfaction of working for the community.
In short, if you are willing to put in the necessary effort, the rewards can be immense. Just be mentally prepared for a long process. As a good friend of mine, who has been a civil servant for more than 20 years, says: "With perseverance and hard work, the position arrives."
If your goal is to get a position in the public employment of the Junta de Castilla y León, now is the time to get your act together. With almost 3,000 vacancies available, 2023 presents one of the best opportunities in recent years. So, don't hesitate, it's time to start your preparation!
