Today, with the hat of Carlos Hidalgo, I'm going to talk to you from my personal experience about a device that has completely changed my way of cleaning the house: the robot vacuum cleaner and floor mopper. You know those days when you prefer to do anything rather than sweeping or mopping? Well, these little robots come as real saviors for those moments.
I had my first experience with one of these robots a few years ago, and boy, have I had to deal with different models, brands, and floor types. Throughout this article, I'm going to tell you what they are, how they work, and what you should keep in mind if you're thinking about getting one.
To start, let's talk about the basics. A robot vacuum cleaner and floor scrubber is an automated cleaning device that vacuums up dirt and also scrubs floors, all in one cycle. These little gizmos work thanks to a combination of sensors, navigational algorithms and suction systems, along with mops that apply water to scrub. Best of all, you can program them to clean whenever you want, even when you're not at home.
Some models, such as those from the Xiaomi brand, feature smart navigation using laser that maps the environment with surprising precision, ensuring efficient cleaning and covering even the most complicated corners. Other models, such as those from iRobot, focus more on specific areas and small spaces, ideal for scrubbing in areas like the kitchen or bathroom.
This is where these devices really shine. If you have a busy lifestyle or just don't enjoy housework (like me), these robots are a blessing. They save you time, effort and even backaches. I tell you from experience: I've gone from having to carry a bucket and mop to simply programming the robot and forgetting about it.
Here goes a small classification according to my experience with different models:
iRobot was the first brand I tried, back in 2016. A basic model, mind you, but it opened my eyes to what these devices could do. Later, I switched to Xiaomi, and let me tell you, that laser changes everything. If you live in a large house or one with a lot of obstacles, I recommend one with advanced navigation. I've also tried the Lefant M213, compact and efficient, perfect for small apartments.
Let's see, not all robots are the same, and it's not worth spending a bundle if you don't know what you're looking for. Here are some tips from my experience:
Since I've been through this many times, I'll give you a tip: don't forget to do regular maintenance on them. Empty the dust bin, clean the brushes and wash the mops after every use. You don't want your robot to end up making more dirt than it picks up. Also be careful with the water tanks; make sure they always have enough liquid in them before you set them to scrub.
Having a robot vacuum and floor mopper has been one of the best decisions I've made. Not only does it free up my time, but it keeps my home spotless with minimal effort. If you're on the fence about whether to buy one, I'm telling you straight: go for it. You won't regret it. But do your research and choose one that fits your needs. With the advancement of technology, there are options for all budgets and types of homes.
