I'm Rubén Águila, and today I want to talk to you about a topic that, although it may seem tedious, is fundamental for many families and workers in Spain: the wage table for domestic workers for 2024. Throughout my life, I have had the opportunity to deal with these wage tables, and believe me, understanding them can make a big difference in the employment relationship and in the pocketbook of all involved.

What is the Household Employees' Wage Table?

The wage table is a tool that establishes the minimum wages that household employees must receive based on their working day. These tables are updated periodically to reflect changes in the Minimum Interprofessional Wage (SMI) and other labor regulations.

In 2024, the SMI has undergone a significant increase from €15,120 to €15,876 gross per year for a full 40-hour working week. This translates into:

  • Monthly payments:
    • 14 payments: €1,134 gross per month.
    • 12 payments (with prorated bonus payments): €1,323 gross per month.
  • Daily wage: €37.80 gross.
  • Hourly wage: 8.87 € gross, including the proportional part of extra pay and vacations.

    Knowing and correctly applying the wage table is essential to ensure that domestic workers are paid fairly and in accordance with the law. It also ensures that employers comply with their legal obligations, avoiding possible penalties.
