Did you know that working for the Servicio Extremeño de Salud (SES) can change your professional life? I am Amadeo Pérez, and today I want to tell you everything you need to know about SES public employment. I'm not talking to you from theory, but from practice. Throughout my career, I have participated in these job exchanges and selective processes. I know firsthand how they work, their challenges and, most importantly, how to make the most of the opportunities they offer.
The SES, or Servicio Extremeño de Salud, is the body in charge of managing public healthcare in Extremadura. Its public employment exchange allows healthcare and non-healthcare professionals to apply for stable or temporary positions in hospitals, health centers and other institutions under its jurisdiction.
The SES digital platform facilitates registration in calls for applications, merit tracking and consultation of admission lists. The objective? To fill positions in key areas such as medicine, nursing, pharmacy, psychology and other health-related disciplines.
To become part of the SES public employment, you must register in its employment exchange. This process, although simple, has some key steps:
Initial registration:
Register on the official portal of the SES and select the call that best fits your profile. If you are new, you will need a digital certificate or your electronic ID.
Merit evaluation:
Your work experience, training and other achievements are evaluated with a point system. For example, previously working in healthcare or completing certain courses can give you a significant advantage.
Admittance lists:
These lists are updated periodically and reflect your accumulated merits. If your name appears, you will be eligible to be called according to the needs of the SES.
Calls and contracts:
When a vacancy arises, those at the top of the list are contacted to offer temporary or permanent contracts, depending on the position.
When I first applied, I admit, I felt overwhelmed. So much red tape? But before long I understood that the process is like a big door: it requires patience, but once you get in, the possibilities are endless.
Key advice: If you're serious, update your merits regularly. Many people fall behind because they don't submit their updates on time.
In my case, I started as an auxiliary technician in a hospital. It was not a permanent position, but it opened doors to other more stable contracts. If I learned anything, it's that in the SES constancy is everything.
As in everything, there are stumbles that can cost you dearly. Here are some that I learned firsthand:
While most positions are for healthcare professionals, there are also opportunities for technicians, clerical and maintenance staff. The calls are inclusive and cover diverse profiles, from dental hygienists to occupational therapists.
I want to share with you some tricks that helped me get to the top of the list:
Working for SES is not just a way to earn money. It is an opportunity to contribute to the welfare of the community while developing yourself professionally. Sure, it's not an easy path, but if you put in the effort, I promise the rewards are enormous.
If you're considering joining SES public employment, don't think twice. Get to work and take the first step toward a fulfilling career.
And remember: the key to success is to persevere where others give up.
The faculties embrace diverse academic disciplines and fields of study, opening doors to new perspectives and exploring different spheres of wisdom in a constantly evolving world.
