If you had asked me a few years ago what I thought of INAEM employment, I would have told you that it was just another bureaucratic institution. But, after going through several jobs and having benefited from its services, I assure you that the Aragonese Employment Institute (INAEM) is a fundamental tool for anyone looking for employment or to improve their employment situation, at least here in Aragon.
For you to understand the role played by INAEM, let me explain in simple terms: it is the public employment service of the autonomous community of Aragon. Its main mission is to facilitate labor insertion, not only for unemployed people, but also for those who are looking to improve their current employment situation. Here you can register as a job seeker, manage your renewals, access unemployment benefits and, most interestingly for many, access free training.
The first time I registered with INAEM was a few years ago, when I became unemployed. Unemployed, disoriented and without many clear ideas of what to do, I found myself in front of the door of one of their offices in Zaragoza, not knowing very well what I was facing. The first thing I did was to register as a job seeker. To do so, you need your ID card and some basic information about your work history, but nothing complicated. Ah! Important: remember that the first registration has to be in person.
Many will think that registering as a job seeker is just a formality, but it's not. It is an essential step if you want to access job offers, subsidized training, or even unemployment benefits if you find yourself in that situation. And best of all, after registering, you can manage your job application from the comfort of your home through its online application.
Can you imagine being able to renew your application without having to leave your home? Well yes, with just a couple of clicks, and that's it! No more long lines and waiting in offices.
The next thing they offered me was a personalized itinerary. Let's see, this sounds very technical, but I'll explain it simply: basically, a career counselor helps you analyze your situation and guides you through the steps you need to take to improve your employability. And, mind you, this is not only for unemployed people, it is also useful if you already have a job but you are looking for a better one or want to change sector.
My INAEM counselor was amazing. She helped me identify my strengths and work on my weaknesses. Thanks to her recommendations, I took a subsidized digital marketing course that not only improved my resume, but also opened me up to new job opportunities.
One of INAEM's best-kept secrets is the large number of free courses they offer. If you have never taken a look at their catalog, I recommend you do so. Language courses, computer science, customer service, digital marketing... the list is endless.
These courses are designed for both unemployed and employed people who want to improve their skills. And best of all, they are 100% subsidized. In my case, the digital marketing course opened the doors to new opportunities. Thanks to it, I got a job in a company where I could apply everything I learned, and that completely changed my employment situation.
Another great service offered by INAEM is its job board. On its website you have access to hundreds of offers that are constantly updated. In addition, if you are registered as a job seeker, you will receive recommendations of offers adjusted to your profile, directly to your email.
It is not that they will guarantee you a job, but having access to such a large database of offers is an invaluable resource. If I have learned anything from my experience with INAEM, it is that you must be proactive. Apply to all offers that interest you and don't be afraid to call companies or go to interviews. You never know when the opportunity you were waiting for might appear!
Although INAEM is always talked about from the worker's point of view, it is also interesting to see how it helps companies. If you are an employer, they offer you advice and services such as job offer management, candidate selection and even financial aid for hiring certain profiles.
As someone who has worked in human resources, I can tell you that resorting to INAEM to fill vacancies is a good idea, especially if you are looking for qualified personnel or if your company needs some extra help for recruitment.
In summary, what I want you to take away from this article is that the INAEM employment is not just another bureaucratic procedure. On the contrary, it is a key resource for those seeking to improve their employment situation in Aragon. From personalized career guidance to free courses to a job bank, INAEM offers a comprehensive platform of services that can help you take the next step in your career.
If you're in Aragon and haven't used its services, I invite you to sign up and take advantage of everything INAEM has to offer. I assure you that it is worth it.
