Hello, I'm Amadeo Pérez. I have spent a good part of my life between brochures, talks and, of course, infographics about healthy sexuality. Believe me, I've seen them all, from those that are a visual wonder to those that barely fulfill their purpose. If you're here, it's because you want to better understand this topic that, for me, is as exciting as it is essential. Let's get to the point.
An infographic is a visual tool that mixes graphic design and data to simplify complex information. In this case, on healthy sexuality, it covers aspects such as:
The beauty of infographics is that they not only educate, they also appeal to diverse audiences, from teens looking for answers to adults looking to update their knowledge. Oh, and if they're well done, they're irresistible! Vibrant colors, concise data and a design that screams: read me.
Here's a fact that few mention: ignorance in sexuality remains a huge problem. For example, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), millions of people lack access to adequate sex education, resulting in unwanted pregnancies and preventable sexually transmitted diseases (STIs).
A good infographic:
When you find one on healthy sexuality, it will most likely include key concepts such as physical, emotional and social well-being related to sexuality, as defined by the WHO. And that's no small thing! Living a fulfilling sexuality is not only about pleasure, but about understanding yourself and others.
I confess something: I wasn't always an expert. In my youth, I grew up in an environment where sex education was conspicuous by its absence. It was one day, sitting in a doctor's waiting room, that I came across my first STI infographic. impact? Total. I discovered things I was never taught in school.
Since then, I adopted a personal crusade for knowledge. I've worked with organizations, designed content and participated in workshops.
The key? Keeping a practical, visual and straightforward approach.
Appealing and functional design: If the infographic doesn't grab attention from the first second, it failed. Warm colors, simple graphics and legible typography are basic.
Reliable data: The worst thing is to spread myths. Every piece of data should be based on solid research and recognized sources, such as the WHO or local health institutions.
Inclusive language: Everyone has the right to quality sexual information, regardless of gender, age or orientation.
Adaptability: An infographic should be able to reach teens, seniors or specific communities equally well.
A healthy sexuality infographic should touch on, at a minimum, these points:
Why go for infographics? Because they have more impact than a thousand words. Visual information is processed 60,000 times faster than text, according to neuroscience studies.
In my experience, a good infographic can make the difference between making good decisions or falling into misinformation. I've seen young people learn to use condoms correctly only because of a clear, straightforward graphic.
If you've gotten this far, you probably understand that sex education isn't just important; it's fundamental. And infographics about healthy sexuality are a brilliant way to democratize that knowledge.
So my advice, as someone who has walked this path, is this: Be friends with infographics! Search, share, and if you can, create your own. Because a more informed society is a healthier society.
And remember, dear reader: Knowledge is power. But when it comes to sexuality, it's also respect, self-love and wellness.
